Hi friends! So this past weekend, my family and I auditioned for Family Feud. My little brother signed us up (without telling us), and a few days after Christmas we got an email to come audition in person! Truthfully, I was not exactly looking forward to going, but it actually ended up being a really fun day.
The auditions were held in a ballroom at the Marriott Hotel in Little Rock. When we walked in there were life size posters of Steve Harvey everywhere, and a ton of families in matching clothes (if you are auditioning dress alike because everyone does!). We were obviously in the right place. The first thing you do when you get to a family feud audition is wait in a very long line. Glamorous right? Then you get a name tag and application and they put you in a room with about 50 other families. You fill out the application, which asks things such as your job, age, and a fun fact about you. Once everyone has turned in their applications the auditions start. A casting director comes up first and gives everyone tips on what they are looking for. They want you to be loud, supportive, energetic, and constantly say “GOOD ANSWER, GOOD ANSWER!!!” The casting director explains how the day will go, what will happen if you are selected, and lets everyone know that Steve Harvey is not there. Then they will call families up to audition in the order that you turn in your applications. You audition in front of everyone because they want to see how you react to an audience. Once you are up there, you take a picture with a board with your name on it, and then the audition starts. First, your team captain introduces you. Then you start the first round. Just like in the show, both teams will buzz in. The team with the better answer will play. The other family will get into the huddle. Both families get to play a round, so the buzzer doesn’t really matter that much. Once you play two rounds, you are free to leave. There is no fast money round. In a month, if you are selected you will get a postcard. To be honest, I do not think you will be seeing my family on the feud anytime soon (we are not the craziest, loudest, or most energetic family of the day), but I guess we won’t know until next month (and if we do I will be sure to let everyone know)!
Have you ever auditioned to be on a TV show? If you have, leave a comment below because I want to know. Thanks for reading!
