If you are the type of person that gets excited when you walk into Target and see that they have started to set up their school supply section, then this post is made for you! Fall is on it’s way, and with that comes a new school year, AKA all the shopping. Whether you are moving into a dorm for the first time at your new college, going through sorority recruitment, or just in need of a cute-yet-functional backpack for school this year, keep on scrolling down to see all of our back to school essentials!
We LOVE shopping for school supplies, even though you don’t need anything more than your laptop and a #2 pencil for most college classes. Something about picking out new planners and notebooks for a new semester makes us abnormally excited. Also, we’re firm believers that if you have cute school supplies, you’ll do better in your classes!
Moving into a dorm is so stressful. You can read all the Pinterest articles you want about college/dorm essentials, but you don’t start thinking of all of those small items you need until your mom and dad have just pulled onto the highway towards home. Living in a dorm can be a huge adjustment for most people, because you are severely downsizing from living in a home/apartment to living in a 13×13 cinderblock (in Riley’s case, go Pomfret!!) room.
If you are moving into your first apartment, yay! It is seriously so much fun. You get to (hopefully) live with your best friends, and you can decorate it to exactly you and your roommates’ tastes. One thing that we were not prepared for when decorating our apartment was how long it takes. We have lived in the same place for just about a year, and we still don’t have everything done! It is a process that will take time, so don’t stress yourself out trying to buy everything you think you will possibly need before move-in day.
Sorority Recruitment Must-Haves
Whether you are a Potential New Member, or you are recruiting from the other side, recruitment is a long, tiring week (or two!). This can be especially true if you are going to school in the South, where you will be teetering along in your heels in 100+ degree weather. It is a must to pack items that you’ll need to touch up your hair and makeup throughout the day. If you’re recruiting from the other side, it’s a must for you too! Having such early call times, you can’t expect to look the same at 4pm as you did at 6:30am. Riley’s life motto is: You look good, you feel good, you do good. This could not be more true for recruitment! It is a stressful time, so you want to look and feel your best so you can make the best impression.
